The weather report is fully automated using the specific GPS location of each trail and the observed weather recorded in that area. Obviously, observed weather is far more accurate than forecasted weather. When observing weather at a specific GPS location, it is accurate up to the one ten-thousandth of lat/lng degree (four decimal places). This accuracy is especially valuable when we have isolated storms.

The status (wet, slick, dry, frozen) is predicted based on the observed rainfall accumulation, temperature, humidity, and wind in the last 24, 48, and 72hrs respectively. We also have soil data for each trail that can calibrate this estimate. The prediction algorithm uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimize predictions based on live updates from riders and stewards. Always adhere to live local trail stewards' updates if available!
